ECFA-FTA Seminar 29th July 2009 Sydney
Taiwan and China signed an ¡¥Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement¡¦ on 29th June 2010 that will have the effect of reducing trade barriers between the two countries. The signing of the ECFA is a milestone in a truly historic transformation of economic relations between Taiwan and China, a transformation that will have tremendous ramifications for Australian business. ATBC organised a rather successful seminar on ¡§Taking advantage of Closer Economic Relations across the Taiwan Strait ¡V An Australia-Taiwan FTA?¡¨ on 29th July, Shangri-la Hotel in Sydney. The seminar was designed for business people and scholars to look for opportunities and appropriate responses. The Chairman¡¦s Report compiled summarising the more interesting ideas and suggestions made at the ATBC¡¦s seminar.

Governor Wu & Chairman Maddock 19th July 2010 in Sydney
ATBC hosted a lunch for the Governor of Taoyuan County Government in Taiwan - Mr John Wu (Wu Chih-yang) and his family on 19th July 2010. Governor Wu was invited by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DEFAT) to visit Australia.

ATBC Annual General Meeting on 5th May 2010 in Sydney
On 5th May 2010 the ATBC held its 27th Annual General Meeting at the Macquarie Group headquarters in Sydney. Macquarie Capital Advisers Ltd hosted the successful meeting and a magnificent AGM lunch in the boardroom. Macquarie¡¦s Ben Way, based in Korea, delivered a highly acclaimed address on the business outlook in Taiwan and North Asia.
Our Guest of Honour, Dr Gary Lin, Taiwan¡¦s Representative in Australia, also addressed at the Luncheon. He briefed members and friends on the improving relations between Taiwan and China.
