ATBC Bulletin Taiwan's Economic Health Improving 21 April, 2010 In this edition: Bilateral Economic Consultations The annual ‘bilateral economic consultations’ (BEC) were held on 12-13 April, in Canberra. I presented a report on business views.   ECFA: No substitute for a sound economic development strategy Opinion about the wisdom of signing an ‘Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement’ (ECFA) with China remains divided. A second round of talks has just concluded, with little information about what it achieved made public.   Taiwan: Healthier economic outlook Taiwan’s economy continues to improve. The World Bank predicts 4.5 percent growth for 2010, the best of the four ‘Asian Tigers’. The Taiwan Stock Exchange’s main index has broken back through 8,000, lifting investors’ spirits.
